I got a what I thought was a female but I believe is male now that I noticed femoral pores that look like are backed up. Do you recommend helping them expel them or what do I suggest I do?

Iguana femoral pore plugs are like little earwax ports  that can sometimes get stuck and build up . This can happen if your iguana's habitat isn't clean enough, or if they don't shed properly.

Here's how to help your iguana get unplugged:

1. Give your iguana a nice warm soak. This will help soften up the plugs and make them easier to remove.

2. Grab a soft brush and gently scrub the plugs. Use warm water with some  chlorhexidine solution to scrub the plugs. In many cases, you can simply use a tweezer and pull the plugs out, and then wash the plug holes with a chlorhexidine and solution. You should keep the plug holes, clean and continue to wash for a few days.

3. Be careful not to scrub too hard! You don't want to hurt your iguana.

4. Once the plugs are out, apply a little antibiotic ointment to the area. This will help prevent infection

Prevention tips:

• Keep your iguana's habitat clean and humid.
• Make sure your iguana is getting enough calcium and vitamin D.
• Avoid using harsh soaps or detergents on your iguana's skin.
• Keep an eye on your iguana's femoral pores to make sure they don't get clogged again.

And there you have it! Your iguana will be feeling much better in no time.
